Description Pair set of embroideries white linen hand embroidery
Fabric: white linen
Embroidery technique: cross-stitch (hand embroidery)
Men's vyshyvanka: It has a standing collar and a front opening with a button fastening. The collar, placket, and cuffs are adorned with embroidery.
Women's vyshyvanka: It features a wide sleeve decorated with hand embroidery. It has a round neckline with a central slit.
For these vyshyvanka models, we have carefully selected coarse-woven natural linen. This fabric closely resembles the quality of handwoven cloth traditionally used for embroidering shirts in the first half of the 20th century.
The intricate embroidery is done by hand using woolen threads. The use of woolen threads was characteristic of the western region and mountainous areas, where sheep were once raised. There is a theory that black sheep were bred in southern Ternopil, and their wool was used for embroidery threads, hence the prevalence of black color in the traditional shirts of the region. This color was considered a symbol of the earth, wealth, and fertility.
The pattern was developed by the embroiderers in our workshop based on ancient shirts.
