Description Keptar Malanka short emerald
Fabric: faux fur, semi-wool.
Kephtar - a traditional sleeveless outer garment, modern in cut but inspired by ancient styles, prevalent in the Western part of Ukraine.
Made from high-quality faux fur and semi-woolen fabric with a knitted base, ensuring durability and long-lasting usage. The kephtar has a shortened cut and features a low collar around the neckline.
Traditionally, festive kephtars were sewn for weddings and then worn to church. They were especially elegantly worn for the morning service on Easter. When the weather was still cool outside, such clothing provided good warmth. Each region of Ukraine is distinguished by a rich ornamentation of the kephtar, and due to its picturesque design, it is often referred to as "written". In the past, such sleeveless garments were a special luxury and were as valuable as a cow or a piece of land for a villager.
The "Malanka" keptar collection is inspired by the traditional outerwear of Ukraine. The beadwork pattern was developed within our workshop. The designer drew inspiration from the embroidered Hutsul kephtars, which are still lavishly adorned today. "The decoration of these coats is taken mostly from the realm of plants, stylized motifs of flowers and leaves arranged in bundles to a greater or lesser extent," wrote Austrian engineer Erich Kolbengäßer, who studied the ornamentation of embroidery in Bukovina.
