Kephtar - a traditional sleeveless outer garment with a modern cut inspired by antiquity, prevalent in the Western part of Ukraine.

Made from high-quality faux fur and semi-woolen fabric with a knitted base, ensuring it doesn't lose shape and has a long period of usage. The length of the kephtar reaches below the knees, which was characteristic of the Bukovinian region. It features a belt around the waist and a low collar around the neckline.

Traditionally, festive kephtars were sewn for weddings and later worn to church. Dressing up in a kephtar for the early Easter service was especially elegant. When it's still cool outside, such clothing provides good warmth. Each region of Ukraine stands out with the wealth of kephtar ornamentation, and due to its picturesque design, it's often referred to as "written". In the past, such sleeveless jackets were a special luxury and were as valuable as a cow or land for a villager.

The "Malanka" kephtar collection is inspired by the traditional outerwear of Ukraine. The beadwork pattern was developed within the walls of our workshop. The designer drew inspiration from embroidered Hutsul kephtars, which are still lavishly adorned today. "The decoration of these coats is largely taken from the realm of plants, with stylized motifs of flowers and leaves arranged in bundles to a greater or lesser extent," wrote Austrian engineer Erich Kolbengäßer, who studied the ornamentation of embroidery in Bukovina.
