“Carpathian Animals” is a collection developed within our workshop. It was inspired by traditional Hutsul shirts, where paired animal motifs were embroidered on the chest panels to protect the wearer and reflect his identity.
The lion symbolizes strength, courage, and generosity. It is one of the oldest and most popular symbols in Ukrainian folk art.
For this vyshyvanka model, we selected natural coarse-weave linen. The fabric closely resembles the homespun textiles used for embroidered shirts in the first half of the 20th century.
The voluminous embroidery is entirely hand-stitched with wool threads. The use of wool threads was characteristic of western regions and mountainous areas, where sheep breeding was once widespread. There is a version that in the south of the Ternopil region, a breed of black sheep was once raised, and their wool was used for embroidery threads — hence the dominance of black in traditional local shirts. This color was considered a symbol of the earth, wealth, and fertility.
The model is wearing size XL. Her height is 180 cm.
