Description Women's embroidered black linen jacket Yavorivska
Material: Black linen
Embroidery Technique: Smooth (machine embroidery)
A straight-cut shirt featuring a round neckline with a central cutout and gathering on the sleeves. The embroidery is from the Carpathian region of Lviv, known as "Slavna Yavorivka." This term refers to the delicate floral ornamentation that adorned women's headscarves and jackets, locally called "kabats," over a century ago. Since the 19th century, these scarves were affectionately called "Slavna Yavorivka," as the patterns consist of "pinecones," "trees," "clusters," and "curves," symbolizing the abundance of flowers in Ukrainian gardens.
The ornament is inspired by the design of an antique Yavoriv scarf from the National Museum in Lviv named after A. Sheptytsky.
