A kraika is a woven belt, an essential element of traditional clothing used to fasten a skirt, plakhta, or apron. When wearing a kraika, young girls let its ends hang in the front, married women — on the left side or at the back, while elderly women traditionally did not wear it. It was believed that carrying wormwood and lovage behind the kraika would protect from evil spirits.
You can style this belt in a modern way and create a variety of ethnic-inspired looks.
