The "plakhta" is a traditional women's waist garment that has been in use since the time of Kyivan Rus. The term "plakhta" comes from the Proto-Slavic word "plakhta," which means cloth, sheet, cover, or canopy. As an element of folk clothing, the plakhta is on the verge of disappearance. Women often wore it instead of a skirt, but we have combined these two elements into one garment.
