Christmas collection "The Vertep"
The collection of textile painted bells is a great honour to Christmas bells that yearly chant the glory to the miracle of the God’s Son Birth. The toys are hand-sewn from natural cotton textile filled with light hypoallergenic padding polyester, painted with Italian acrylics and soaked with the warm flavours of spices and chocolate. Taken all together, they reconstruct the créche. The old tradition of créche goes back to the times when the illiterate churchmen were told the Biblical story about the birth of little Jesus in Bethlehem with the help of sculpture compositions. Later, when the cities began to grow and the number of townspeople increased, créches began to be placed in front of the cathedrals. Even further, the costume performances with all the significant attributes, puppet theatre and story-songs about the Miracle were organized. Today it’s not necessary for us, literate people, to explain why 14 traditional characters are depicted on the bells from the “Créche” collection: Virgin Mary with the Baby, her husband Joseph, shepherds with the cattle who became the first witnesses of the Birth, Three Kings who came from the parts of the world with gifts, and Three Angels which blessed the event. Or why there are Mary with Jesus, Joseph and the sheep (a symbolic animal-witness of the miracle in the Bethlehem barn) on the wreath “The Holy Family”. We keep this tradition telling the fairy-tales and legends and singing carols to our children about the strength of love and kindness that rule our world if not every day, but always on holidays.
